What are infographics?
According to Doug Newsom and Jim Haynes (2004). Public Relations Writing: Form and Style. p.236, Information graphics or infographics are graphic visual representations of information, data or knowledge intended to present complex information quickly and clearly.
Basically it is the new way to present information.
Here is the infographic for the blog you are currently reading:
As you can see, it has several words in different sizes, but what do they mean? In very simple terms, the size of a word in the visualization is proportional to the number of times the word appears in the text written in this blog, the larger the word the more relevant it is. This type of information can take a very long time to analyze, but it took me less than 2 minutes! Here is how I did it:
1. Visit www.wordle.net
2. Click on the button that says create
3. Enter the information to be analyzed in PLAIN TEXT or insert the URL of the website on the space provided.
4. Click Go
5. Enjoy!
Thanks to the creators of this amazing website, we can now save time and create great customizable infographics to present information clearly to our customers.
You can play with the color, size and font of the infographic.
